Remember when you flirted just enough with a person to let them know you were interested but not too much that you risked rejection? Then, you were surprised when the other person had no clue what had happened. If you are a man reading this, it’s understandable — you likely had no idea this scenario even unfolded. If you are a woman, it wasn’t his fault; he’s simply emotionally, physiologically, and genetically inclined to miss subtle hints!
To reveal what we say without talking, Harvesting Happiness Podcast Host Lisa Cypers Kamen speaks with author and associate professor at Texas A&M, Dr. Stephen Furlich about the principles of non-verbal communication.
As a professor, Dr. Furlich searched for a research-based book on non-verbal behaviors to teach his students. The book he was looking for did not exist. So, he wrote it himself. His newest book, Nonverbal Epiphany: Steps to Improve Your Nonverbal Communication, covers the breadth of human interactions. He shares his findings and several examples of unconscious communication cues we unwittingly employ.
Dr. Stephen Furlich is the best-selling author of a breakthrough book, Sex Talk: How Biological Sex Influences Gender Communication Differences Throughout Life’s Stages.
Dr. Furlich has become fascinated with technological advancements in science that have enabled a better understanding of communication.
This line of research has inspired him to write this book to bring together many different scientific studies to better understand the role of biology with nonverbal communication cues.
