Phyllis Chesler is an Emerita Professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies at City University of New York. She is a best- selling author, a legendary feminist leader, a psychotherapist and an expert courtroom witness. Dr. Chesler has published thousands of articles and, most recently, studies, about honor-related violence including honor killings. She has published many classic works such as Women and Madness, Mothers on Trial. The Battle for Children and Custody, and Woman’s Inhumanity to Woman and her fifteenth book titled An American Bride in Kabul.

Paula J. Caplan is a clinical and research psychologist. She is currently Associate at the DuBois Institute, following two years as a Fellow in the Women and Public Policy Program of Harvard Kennedy School, both at Harvard University. She is the author of 11 books.Her most recent book, When Johnny and Jane Come Marching Home, won the Association of American Publishers’ PROSE Award for best psychology book of 2011, Independent Publishers’ Groundbreaking Book of the Month Award the month it was published, and Independent Publishers’ Silver Medal in the psychology/mental health division for 2011.

Jennifer M. Gómez, M.S., is a doctoral student in clinical psychology at the University of Oregon, researching the effects of betrayal trauma with her advisor, Dr. Jennifer J. Freyd. She is also the co-editor to the upcoming special issue of Journal of Trauma & Dissociation: Self Injury & Suicidality: The Impact of Truma & Dissociation. In expanding upon Betrayal Trauma Theory, proposed by Dr. Freyd, Jennifer has proposed Cultural Betrayal Trauma Theory as a way to examine and understand interpersonal trauma outcomes for cultural minorities.
